Event: Belif Bloggers’ Workshop

It’s really quite a pity that Belif has such a similar name as another brand – B.liv. It’s kinda like having the same name as that really nasty bitchy girl in secondary school – the negative association is always there.

Sometime last year, B.liv had such bad publicity because some chick used their mask after read about it in CLEO and had a major, big time, horrifying breakout. To be honest, she didn’t put any “before” photos of herself, and neither did B.liv come forward to do some crisis control, so I don’t know the full story. However, bad publicity is still some publicity, and B.liv definitely suffered a major setback.

When I told my friends I was going for a Belif event, they were aghast. “Is that the brand that causes the major breakout?!” “You sure you wanna go through puberty breakout again? You’re too old for that, you know?” were just some really common responses I got.

But you know what? That is precisely one of the reasons I set up this blog – to be informative and bring accurate information to my readers. So today’s blog post will be about Belif and what it really is.

Exemplifying one of the good points of a well-organised event: Clear signs directing us to the venue.

Belif’s trainer from Korea – Kayla (I think that’s the spelling of her name). A surprisingly eloquent Korean with great presentation and interaction skills. I’ve seen many presentations, and trust me, she puts a lot of locals to shame.

Our table companion

An interesting activity for us to do – drawing our own belif bottle designs on this special film which would then be shrunk into a keychain for me. Better than a makeup demonstration if you ask me.

An extremely lovely thought-out gesture by Kayla – a special present for all the attendees. I’m not sure if this came out of the company budget or from her own pocket, but I still think it’s really sweet!

Souvenirs to take home – some photos and also the bookmark given by Kayla

Take-home goodies – the four key products that were discussed during the workshop, so that we could try it at home to see longer-term effects.

The promise of good skin in a box – I’ll be testing these products out, so expect my reviews in about 2-4 weeks 🙂

Event takeaways:

  • Belif hails from Korea and is under the LG group – with the backing of such a large group, you can be sure of their R&D facilities and proper testing methods.
  • It only uses true ingredients – herbs.
  • It has been around for 150 years – it was created by this dude Duncan Napier, who managed to cure his chronic cough with a herbal remedy. He then decided to use it for skincare.
  • The brand places more emphasis on product content than packaging, which explains its really simple exterior. To be honest, it really isn’t eye-catching at all. But hey, if it results in better products being created, I’m willing to give up those fancy schmancy gold-tinted casings.
  • The ingredients list is laid out large and proud for everyone to see.
  • It has no synthetic preservatives, dyes, fragrances, mineral oil nor anything of animal origin.
  • Even though it doesn’t have synthetic preservatives, its products still have a comparable shelf life to that of other products.

So there, a 3-hour session broken down into simple and easy-to-digest English. The four products given to us are their star products. If you wanna get a feel of them yourselves, head on down to Belif and test it out.
