Review: Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Ink Liner

Now it’s not secret that I’m an eyeliner fiend – I love me some wing tips. There’s no denying the immediate effect of applying eyeliner. Your eyes instantly look bigger, brighter, and more awake. (It’s also my lazy alternative to not applying mascara, which also has the same effect, but requires more effort heh).

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Ink Liner – SGD$38 each

Got them in two shades – the brown is D-60 and the black is M-10.

I say…

The Packaging: A relatively slim long tube that’s tapered at the top and fatter at the bottom. There’s a felt tip applicator attached to the cap, and there’s also a ball bearing inside, which means you need to shake well before applying.

The Texture: They do glide on easily and smoothly. However, I do note that the brown one (D-60) is more buildable – the first coat, as you can see, isn’t a full-on pigmented finish that’s a light hazel, but multiple layers will give you a richer, chocolate brown. On the other hand, the black one (M-10) is intensely black and pigmented and gives a rich matte black finish.

The Verdict: I’m rarely disappointed with all Make Up For Ever products, and this one performs pretty up to par. The colours are relatively pigmented, and if not, buildable into a richer intensity. It definitely is waterproof and longwear – I’m counting 8 hours of weartime, and the brown D-60 shade has only faded by about 10%. The one pet peeve I have would be the felt tip applicator that is slightly stubby at the end – it can result in a rather “thick” line (in comparison with a brush tip). It also means that I can’t get that perfect swish at the end of my eye line. Then again, it can give more control to those who are just starting out on eyeliners, as this gives you an eye line with even thickness/width. Definitely one to try if you’re looking for a long-stay and waterproof eyeliner πŸ˜€
