Swatches: Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar Milkyway Fantasy Christmas 2016 – Bloody Dress and Mystic Rose

If I ever ran a beauty brand, I’d be putting out limited editions more than 1x a year – I mean, beauties like this year’s Milkyway Fantasy from Laneige are bound to sell out sooner than you can say “Annyeonghaseyo”. Of course, R&D and production will hate me to no end heh. Anyhoos, one of their staple products that has been clad in the Milkyway Fantasy design is their popular Two Tone Lip Bar – now available in 2 limited edition shades. (Their Two Tone Shadow Bar is also available in 2 limited edition shades.)

  • Left: Worn in an ombre effect (where the lighter shade is applied nearer the outline of the lips, and the darker shade is worn nearer the inner portion of the lips)
  • Middle: Mixing both colours
  • Right: Wearing only the brighter shade

My Thoughts:

Now the first thoughts that came to mind when I first heard the shade name “Bloody Dress” was “dafug guys?!”. I mean, admit it, it does conjur up Carrie-esque images. However, after application, I find that I much prefer this shade. The richer colour helps to hide the fine lines of the lips, and gives a wider range of lip colours/finishings. On the other hand, Mystic Rose is indeed pretty with the sweet pink finishings, but the ombre/gradient isn’t that obvious. As with its staple range, the colours are relatively pigmented, have a slight level of glossiness/creaminess to them so they don’t drag on your lips. Available at all Laneige counters and boutiques from 3 November onwards for $34 each.
