Review: Hanyul Seo Ri Tae Anti-Aging Cream

So after testing out my skin age with SK-II’s Magic Ring test, I was pretty horrified to hear that my skin firmness is 39%. Dafugggggg. Forget Botox –  find me some cement to prop these saggy jowls up now!

After calming down and reining my inner drama mama in, I decided to just pile on the firming creams instead.  Although I’ve been focusing on my whitening regime for a while, I’d thankfully had the sense (of an overly-enthusiastic beauty junkie) to stock up on some when I was in Korea during April.

 Skincare tips:

Applying your skincare with gentle massaging motions will help to stimulate your circulation, increase absorption and hopefully increase firmness. Use gentle sweeping motions from the chin, upward along the jawline, and upwards to the cheeks and ears.

My complete night regime (if I’m not in zombie mode):

  1. The Face Shop Smim Fermentation Concentrate Total Treatment
  2. DRX Comedone Formula
  3. Hanyul Optimizing Serum
  4. Hanyul Essential Skin Softner
  5. Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum
  6. Sulwhasoo Snowise EX Whitening Serum
  7. Sulwhasoo Snowise EX Spot Whitening Serum (optional)
  8. Hanyul Anti-Ageing Essence
  9. Hanyul Skin Essential Emulsion
  10. Hanyul Seo Ri Tae Anti Aging Cream / Sulwhasoo Snowise Whitening Cream

I say…

I have to be honest – I slacked off using firming creams for a while (I think the last firming cream I used was SK-II’s Stempower Cream and Sulwhasoo’s Firming Cream) simply cos I was focusing too much on whitening and brightening. But it’s okay, I guess I could just slather it on now? Like maybe a 5cm-thick layer? Heh.

  • It comes in a plastic tub with a little plastic tray for hygiene (not shown in photos).
  • I’m loving the little plastic spatula that comes with – it really is shaped like an actual spatula.
  • The handle is slightly thicker so that you can get a better grip, and the scoop area is portioned perfectly so that it picks up just enough for one usage.
  • There’s a slight herbal scent which I’ve now come to associate with Hanyul.
  • Although it’s named a cream, its consistency is actually pretty lightweight, kinda like an emulsion-cream hybrid.
  • It’s really smooth and glides over the skin.
  • It kinda feels like there’s a lot of very finely-ground micro molecules of ginseng / herbs in the cream.
  • Despite it being a lightweight consistency, you’ll still need to pat and massage it for a bit so that it sets in properly.
  • I haven’t had any breakouts thankfully.
  • In terms of efficacy – My face feels smoother the day after, with a very eensy weensy improvement in texture refinement.
  • In terms of firmness – I cannot honestly say that I see a Botox-like improvement, but there’s a very slight increase in my skin’s bounciness.

Overall, I’d say this isn’t such a bad firming cream to try, especially for those who are more adverse to thicker consistency-type creams.

  2. I love Hanyul’s products so far. I even really like the smell and even considering changing my skincare routine all out to Hanyul products…although I’ve been eyeing Sulwhasoo. I even bought this anti-aging cream because of your review. I just wish they had an ingredients list on their package or available for view on their website or something. I sometimes see some people have the ingredients list to a few things, but I wonder where they get them because even on my box there is no ingredients listed even in Korean. I can’t wait to try this cream! I have tried the sleeping pack of this cream and I hope that it is better in hydration compared to that.
